Christmas, Crawling and Catching Up

It can't be January 11th. I mean really where has time gone??

We had a fabulous Christmas. This being our first Christmas with a child in the house made for some interesting times but a whole new experience. Of course, B didn't have a clue that it was Christmas and he honestly didn't care about the presents but for us it was a promise fulfilled. Last year we prayed for our house to be filled with a little one for the next Christmas and our God was faithful. For that we are so grateful!

We started off Christmas Eve with my Dad's side of the family. We of course had more food than we needed but the highlight of the night was the arrival of Santa Claus. Dad has been our resident Santa for as long as I can remember. He loves doing it and does such a good job. B wasn't too excited about it but the other kids in the family were ecstatic! From there we went home, got B ready for bed and read the Christmas story from Luke followed by "Twas the Night before Christmas". Of course I cried through the whole thing just thinking about how blessed we were to have a family and what it must have been like for Mary and Joseph to hold their own baby that first Christmas.

Christmas morning we woke up and I had made PW cinnamon rolls (which are divine), the Brumley's came over and we opened presents and then went to mom's and did it all again.

B has had his last bout of ear infections, hopefully! This past Monday he ended up back in the doctor's office with a double ear infection that sent this little boy through the ringer. He has been up every night for about two hours and cried pretty much all day. We finally got some ear drops and Tylenol with codeine to make him feel better. It was by far the worst one. He's had 6 in 5 months which means a trip to the ENT. I am so excited! His appointment is January 18th.

The exciting news in the house has been B's ability to crawl. I was so excited about it and ready for him to mobile and then… he found Harley, and the extension cord, and the shoes, and Harley's dog toys, and the…you get the point. We have not baby proofed this house!!!! The fire place utensils are still on the floor the candle holders, the picture frames, the wobble table that he pulls up on. What have we done! He also LOVES to walk behind his little Lion that the Fly family gave him. Thanks Amy! Yesterday I was trying to contain him while I was putting up laundry and looked at him pulling up in the crib and his belly was just below the top of the crib. So we had Don the neighbor come over and help Brandon lower the bed. Before we know it he will be starting kindergarten.

To top it all off Dad came over last night and gave B his first haircut! It was priceless. Dad loved it and B hated it. He didn't want to be still and it didn't matter what we did he wasn't going to have it. It turned out cute and dad was in heaven.

We have another court hearing on the 27th so be praying for God's will to be our hearts desire. It's hard to not think about the what ifs, they flood my mind constantly.

It's been adventurous over the last several weeks and we wouldn't trade it for anything in the world…maybe a full night's sleep, just maybe!
